5...is so big!

This week we hit a milestone in the Amerson family.  Our oldest son turned 5.  Isn't that so big??  He has embraced it with open arms - and a lot of celebrating!

At the lake we had his first party.  He and Anna Beth celebrated their birthdays with a family party.  For a whole 3 days Anna Beth and Ely were both 4 (she turned 4 on the 10th and Ely didn't turn 5 until the 13th).  The Haisten girls don't need to be asked twice to have a party, especially when it involves cake!

The "week of Ely" continued with his birthday party on Saturday the 10th.  He was excited to have a Jake and the Neverland Pirates swim party at the house.  Please note, Jake does not have an eye patch.  This was a HUGE issue when discussing the difference between a Jake party and a pirate party.  Just a note, there are very few Jake invitations, decorations, balloons out there.  We did a lot of pirate stuff but at least we got the cake right!  The biggest "hit" (no pun intended) was the pinata.  I highly recommend it for any 5 year olds birthday party!

Our twin baby sitters.  Thanks to Jane and Leah, I was able to tend to the party and not the babies!

His birthday week continued with a trip to the zoo on Monday - Thanks to Grammy for the year passes.

The final celebration was at the Rangers game - just Ely and Daddy
It is hard to believe that my first baby is 5.  I can't wait to see what this year will hold for all of us!

The other big happening during his birthday celebration week was the start of PreK.  Ely loves his new school, Compass Christian and his new teacher, Ms. Katie.  This is a picture from this 2nd day of school.  We didn't have our act together at all the first day!  I wonder if I will cry next year at Kindergarten???
